About: BCIT and me..

Well, this is the very first time I’ve used a blog site……and probably never would have, but, taking a New Media and Web Design Program would lead one to think that I should probably know how.

So here it goes,

How do you make a hanky dance?(Put a little “boogy” in it)…my six year old told me that joke the other day. It was good to hear him laugh, his name is Desmond.

I resigned from my two year position as a Central Reservation Agent at the Corporate Head Office of  Coast Hotels and Resorts two weeks ago and since then I can’t get the smile off my face. I have been anticipating a new challenge for so long now, I would literally feel like jumping out of my skin, I was exploding with creative ideas and was being stifled by the corporate thumb of tourism. Not to say my office wasn’t wonderful, they became my extended “Coast” family, great company funtions, potlucks, incentives and a heartfelt farewell. I do miss my collegues.

I’m in the middle of a complete role reversal with my boyfriend, instead of him taking night courses, he’s tucking kids into bed, making dinner, taking them to baseball and guitar lessons, making sure there fed, clean and happy. Sounds like it should be simple, but, think of it this way, your hiring a new CEO of your company and this person needs to have all the skills and tools, knowledge & trust, contacts and information necessary to do the job well….big shoes to fill. But so far so good, I should have done this a long time ago I haven’t had to scoop cat poop for an entire week:)

Coming to the BCIT campus for the first day of class was such an alienating experience, talk about stepping out your comfort zone, I swear I was holding a sign that read,”New Student”.  It’s strange how when your only dealing with administrative duties like admissions and such it really doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but when you come to your first day of class it was everything I could do to not throw up, I was so nervous. Now that I’m settled and have made a couple aquantances it doesn’t feel as lonely and scary as before.

I guess my ship has finally come in.
